10.19 Ct. Orange Cabochon Moonstone

There is a very particular romance that surrounds moonstone, a romance that spans cultures and centuries, a romance that finds a new voice in this orange cabochon from Ceylon, Sri Lanka. For millennia moonstone has been linked to the cycles of the moon, to tides and to the mysteries of night, prized by ancient civilizations from the Romans to the peoples of South Asia, and passed along trade routes where it acquired layers of meaning and reverence. This 10.19 carat oval moonstone embraces that lineage, its warm orange tone recalling sunset over tropical seas while its translucent body suggests the pearly glow that first inspired moonstone lore. Unenhanced and honest in its natural state, this gem offers not only color but character, a piece that will age into history on the hand, the necklace, or the heirloom chest that will hold it for future generations. We honor that legacy by presenting this stone with provenance and care, a distinctive example of the enduring beauty that has made moonstone a symbol of continuity and grace. The gem is cut as a classic cabochon, the dome shape chosen for centuries to best reveal the inner glow and soft light play that define moonstone, and it measures 15.90 by 11.89 by 7.20 millimeters, dimensions that make it substantial enough to serve as a focal point in a ring, pendant, or vintage inspired brooch. Its clarity is graded as very slightly included when evaluated at eye level, an attribute that speaks to its natural origin while maintaining visual purity and appeal. The color is described as medium intense, a flattering orange warmth that is neither garish nor faint, and the polish is excellent, resulting in a silky surface that amplifies the gem s luminosity. There has been no enhancement, no heat treatment, nothing added to alter or improve its appearance, so the depth of hue and the quality of the sheen are authentic to the stone and to the soils of Ceylon that shaped it. The cabochon cut, coupled with the stone s translucency, offers a soft adularescence, a moonlit shimmer that seems to move when the gem is tilted, inviting touch and attention. This moonstone is inherently well suited to designs that favor tradition and continuity, the sorts of settings that frame the gem without overwhelming it, such as a warm gold bezel that echoes its orange heart, or a simple claw setting that allows light to play around the dome while offering secure support for daily wear. For those who treasure heirlooms and stories, a ring that will be worn across the years, or a pendant that will be handed down, this gem promises to gather memories as naturally as it gathers light. Care is straightforward, and gentle, the sort of tending that is part of forming a relationship with a jewel, clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, avoid harsh chemicals and hard impacts, store separately to prevent abrasion to the polished cabochon. When you choose this moonstone you are selecting more than a gemstone, you are choosing an object with provenance, a material connection to centuries of craft and belief, and a luminous focal point that will lend warmth and history to any design it graces.
