0.72 Ct. Pinkish Purple Spinel

You have been searching for a gemstone that feels like an answer to a question you did not know how to ask, a stone that marries rarity with wearability, and presence with refinement. This 0.72 carat emerald cut pinkish purple spinel, presented by us, meets that search with quiet confidence. Measuring 6.43 x 4.71 x 2.50 mm, faceted with an elegant emerald cut, this transparent gem carries a medium color intensity that is both intimate and striking. It shows a clarity grade of slightly included when evaluated at eye level, a trait that adds character rather than detracts from the gem, and it has an excellent polish that lets light move cleanly across its surfaces. No enhancement has been applied, so what you see is the natural result of geological time and human skill, and its origin in Ceylon Sri Lanka connects it to a storied gem heritage that collectors and sentiment seekers appreciate. If you are imagining an engagement ring that is unique, or a collector piece that balances rarity with practicality, this spinel offers a solution that feels deliberate and personal. The journey of this spinel begins in the gem rich soils of Ceylon Sri Lanka, where generations of miners and their families have worked the same alluvial fields. Our trusted local partners and experienced pickers know how to read the gravel and stream beds for the subtle signs of spinel. In a small clearing by a river, under a wide sky, a fragment of rough was uncovered, its rough contours hinting at a color that shifted between rose and violet. That rough was hand sorted and set aside as a candidate for careful cutting rather than being milled into smaller, less valuable pieces. This stage is about potential and restraint, about recognizing that some stones deserve more patience so they can reveal their best color and clarity. The decision to keep the rough intact and move it forward into the hands of an expert cutter was the first of several choices that would ultimately shape the stone into the elegant emerald cut specimen you see now. At the cutting table the narrative shifted from discovery to refinement, and from potential to promise. The cutter chose an emerald cut because of the way its parallel facets and open table would showcase the spinel s pinkish purple hue and its internal character. The plan was to emphasize color depth and clean planes rather than deceive with excessive sparkle, to honor the stone s natural qualities. Cutting a stone that measures 6.43 x 4.71 x 2.50 mm to a finished weight of 0.72 carat required precise orientation of the rough crystal, careful preservation of weight, and controlled faceting to manage how light travels through the gem. Slight inclusions were respected and positioned so they contribute to the soul of the gem rather than distract. The faceting style was executed to produce crisp lines and an excellent polish that gives the stone a refined, glass like finish. No treatments were used, so the gem remained true to its origin, and every facet was inspected under magnification before the stone was approved to travel to the next stage. When the polished spinel arrived at our showroom, it was photographed, measured, and set beside sketches for possible settings that would complement its proportions and color. The photos that accompany this description show how the stone sits on the hand, giving scale and a sense of how it behaves under natural light. For someone looking for an engagement ring, the emerald cut offers a modern, architectural silhouette that flatters a slender finger and pairs beautifully with both minimalist bands and vintage inspired settings. For a collector, this spinel represents a natural, unenhanced example of Ceylon color, a piece that sits well in a cabinet of rarities or a themed collection. Caring for this spinel is simple, because it is durable and stable, but it rewards the same gentle stewardship all fine gems do. Clean it with mild soap and warm water, avoid abrasive chemicals, and protect it from hard knocks. We stand behind the story of this gem, and we welcome questions about setting options, appraisal, or provenance details. If your search has been for a piece that signals intention and individuality, this 0.72 carat pinkish purple spinel from Ceylon may be the final choice that turns a search into a keepsake.
