0.84 Ct. Greenish Yellow Cabochon Chrysoberyl

This translucent greenish yellow chrysoberyl, weighing 0.84 carat, presents an oval silhouette that measures 5.57 x 3.94 x 3.58 mm, a dimension that balances presence with refined wearability. The gem has been shaped as a cabochon to emphasize body color and internal depth, and it carries a clarity grade of eye clean when evaluated at eye level, indicating the absence of visible inclusions to the unaided eye. The color intensity is classified as medium, offering a pleasing saturation that reads lively without appearing overstated, and the surface exhibits an excellent polish that contributes to uniform light reflection and a smooth feel to the touch. There are no enhancements, the stone is natural, and its recorded origin is Ceylon, Sri Lanka. We document and discloses these specifications to ensure clarity and to maintain provenance for collectors and designers who require accurate information. The formation narrative of this chrysoberyl reaches back through deep geological time, to a dynamic period when the crust that now comprises Sri Lanka was subjected to prolonged metamorphism and episodic magmatic activity. Chrysoberyl is a beryllium aluminum oxide mineral that crystallizes under specific conditions of pressure, temperature, and fluid composition, conditions that were present in pockets of the ancient continental crust. Millions of years ago, tectonic forces drove burial and heating of protolith rocks, creating high temperature and moderate to high pressure environments that mobilized beryllium bearing fluids. These fluids percolated through fractures and intergranular spaces of aluminous host rocks, carrying dissolved elements that, upon cooling and changes in chemical environment, precipitated chrysoberyl crystals. The slow rate of crystallization allowed the mineral lattice to develop with clarity and integrity, while trace quantities of iron and other substituting elements influenced the gem s greenish yellow hue. Over subsequent geological epochs, weathering and erosion liberated these primary crystals from their host rocks, allowing rivers and streams to concentrate them into alluvial deposits, where traditional mining in Sri Lanka has long recovered gem material of exceptional quality. From a gemological and practical standpoint, this cabochon chrysoberyl offers attributes that make it well suited for both collectors and for use in fine jewelry. The oval form and measured dimensions translate into design versatility, permitting secure mounting in rings, pendants, or earrings without compromising comfort. The cabochon presentation enhances the perception of depth and color uniformity, and the eye clean clarity ensures that light transmission is unobstructed by visible inclusions, which supports even color viewing across the surface. The absence of enhancement preserves the stone s original optical and physical properties, and the excellent polish maximizes luster while maintaining structural integrity. We maintain documentation of origin and treatment status, and can provide guidance on setting, care, and appraisal, including recommendations for routine cleaning and the advisability of protective settings for everyday wear. This chrysoberyl carries a geological story that enriches its aesthetic appeal, a clear set of specifications that verify its physical qualities, and a provenance that aligns with responsible acquisition practices.
