0.85 Ct. Brown Cabochon Chrysoberyl

From the weathered slopes and river beds of Ceylon, Sri Lanka, this brown chrysoberyl began its life tucked among ancient metamorphic gravels, shaped by time and the patient forces of earth. Local gem hunters, working with practiced hands and an instinct honed by generations, recovered a rough that carried a subtle warmth and translucence. We cherish these beginnings, because every facet of a gem tells a story. This particular piece, a delicate oval cabochon, retains the quiet character of its origin, a medium intensity brown that speaks of soil and sunlight rather than loud color. The stone weighed 0.85 carat when it arrived at our workshop, and its raw promise was evident in the way light threaded softly through its body, inviting a careful hand to reveal its inner calm. In the lapidary room the rough was studied like a map, the cutter listening to the stone as much as guiding it. The decision to fashion it as a cabochon preserved translucency and emphasized the stone s gentle glow, while an oval shape harmonized with its natural proportions. The finished gem measures 5.52 x 4.78 x 3.22 mm, it is translucent, very slightly included evaluated at eye level, and bears an excellent polish that allows reflections to play across its dome without distraction. There has been no enhancement, the color and clarity are honest gifts of nature and careful craft. Owning this chrysoberyl is to carry a small piece of Sri Lankan gem lore, a link between the miner who first found it, the artisan who shaped it, and the person who will wear it next. We present it not only as a material for jewelry, but as a story ready to be set and continued, a natural treasure that honors its roots and its journey to refined beauty.
