1.12 Ct. Purple Spinel

This 1.12 carat cushion shape purple spinel measures 7.31 by 4.99 by 3.65 millimeters, exhibiting transparent clarity with a slightly included grade when evaluated at eye level. The gem is faceted in a mixed brilliant cut, pairing a brilliant style crown with a precision faceted pavilion to optimize scintillation and return. The measured depth is approximately 59.3 percent relative to the average of length and width, a proportion that balances pavilion volume and crown pavilion interaction to favor lively flashes without sacrificing face up spread. Color intensity is light, presenting a clean purple hue with subtle violet undertones, and the stone is unenhanced, retaining natural saturation and optical character. Polish is excellent, each facet junction appearing crisp and well executed, supporting strong facet contrast and a bright, even surface finish. From a craftsmanship perspective the cushion silhouette is sympathetically proportioned, the mixed brilliant facet architecture emphasizing table centered brilliance and controlled windowing. The cutter has maintained consistent facet symmetry and alignment, which reduces light leakage at off axis viewing angles and enhances dispersion across the table and crown facets. Inclusions are minor and localized, not compromising the gem s structural integrity, and they contribute to the stone s individuality when viewed under loupe. Spinel s inherent toughness and a hardness of approximately eight on the Mohs scale make this gem suitable for daily wear in prong or bezel settings, and its dimensions lend themselves to classic solitaire designs, halo settings, or custom pieces where the light, transparent purple will read elegantly against both white and warm metals. Sourced from Ceylon, Sri Lanka through our traceable buying channels, this spinel embodies the ethical standards we maintain. The stone is supplied without any treatment, and our procurement practices prioritize verified origin, fair compensation to local stakeholders, and minimization of environmental impact at the point of extraction. For the conscious collector seeking a naturally colored, well cut purple spinel that combines technical refinement with responsible sourcing, this specimen offers a rare confluence of optical quality, durable material properties, and provenance transparency, making it an ideal candidate for considered acquisition and long term enjoyment.
