1.17 Ct. Purplish Pink Spinel

This transparent 1.17 carat oval purplish pink spinel measures 7.78 x 5.79 x 3.12 mm, and is expertly faceted in a mixed brilliant cut to maximize both scintillation and color distribution. The stone displays a medium color intensity that reads as a delicate but saturated purplish pink under daylight, with excellent polish that produces crisp facet junctions and lively return of light. Origin Ceylon, Sri Lanka is noted for producing high quality spinels with stable natural hues, and this specimen is completely natural with no enhancement, making it an attractive proposition for the discerning buyer. We present this gem as a fine example of a clean face up appearance combined with authentic, natural character. Clarity has been evaluated as slightly included at eye level, which communicates that inclusions are present but not detracting from the overall beauty when viewed without magnification. These inclusions are best thought of as unique internal signatures that confirm natural growth, and they add character and provenance rather than reducing desirability. In practical terms the inclusions contribute to the identity of the piece, allowing connoisseurs and gemologists to distinguish it from synthetic or heavily treated material, while the mixed brilliant cut distributes light across the pavilion and crown to mask minute internal features and enhance sparkle. For educated buyers, a slightly included grade with excellent polish and no enhancement is often preferable to overly treated alternatives, because it preserves rarity and long term value. From a practical and investment perspective this spinel is well suited to a variety of settings, performing exceptionally as a solitaire ring center, a classic pendant, or a refined pair in a bespoke design, given its balanced proportions and comfortable dimensions. Spinel rates about 8 on the Mohs scale, offering reliable durability for everyday wear, and routine care with warm soapy water and a soft brush will maintain its polish and color. The combination of natural, unenhanced origin from Ceylon, attractive medium intensity purplish pink color, precise mixed brilliant faceting, and the presence of characteristic inclusions makes this gem a compelling acquisition for collectors and clients seeking a gem with both aesthetic appeal and verifiable natural origin, available through us.
