1.26 Ct. Pinkish Purple Rhodolite Garnet

This 1.26 carat rhodolite garnet is presented in a princess shape, with precise dimensions of 5.86 x 5.62 x 4.12 millimeters, cut as a faceted gemstone with a refined princess cut geometry. The square outline and gently beveled corners are executed to retain maximum weight while delivering a crisp table and defined pavilion. The pavilion depth relative to the mean girdle diameter yields a depth of approximately seventy one point eight percent, a proportion that promotes a strong face up presence and concentrated color saturation without sacrificing return of light. The cutting style exhibits a mixed faceting approach, combining a brilliant influenced crown with angular pavilion facets that create internal scintillation and crisp faceted reflections. The symmetry across all four quadrants is well controlled, ensuring balanced light performance and minimizing windowing. The excellent polish observed on crown facets and facet junctions enhances contrast and allows the polish luster to project through the table, preserving the stone as a highly wearable yet technically precise gem. Color is a primary determinant of value in rhodolite garnet, and this specimen displays a pinkish purple hue with medium color intensity. The hue sits in the cooler end of the rhodolite spectrum, influenced by manganese and iron contents typical of Sri Lankan material, resulting in an attractive purplish raspberry tone ideal for both contemporary and classic jewelry designs. Saturation is even across the stone thanks to controlled pavilion angling and consistent pavilion cut depth, producing a stable face up appearance under standard daylight and incandescent illumination. From a gemological standpoint, garnets show little to no pleochroism compared to other gem species, and rhodolite is notable for its consistent hue under a range of lighting conditions. The absence of enhancement, documented by our inspection, means the color is entirely natural and stable, a characteristic that confers added confidence for long term collectors and investors who prioritize untreated material. Clarity and cut quality are complementary attributes that affect both aesthetic quality and market desirability, and this rhodolite has been graded as very very slightly included when evaluated at eye level. The inclusions are minor and positioned in locations that do not interrupt major light paths, preserving high internal clarity and allowing the cut facets to perform optimally. Because the stone is transparent and the polish is excellent, light transmission is strong and facet junctions remain crisp, resulting in a lively return and pleasing brilliance. The princess cut accentuates corner brilliance and requires tight facet alignment to avoid undesirable leakage or darkness in pavilion zones, and this piece demonstrates meticulous facet mapping with minimal light leakage. The controlled depth and table proportions produce a substantial face up size for the recorded weight, enhancing visual presence when set. These combined factors, clarity, cut precision, and surface finish, contribute directly to both immediate market appeal and long term retainment of value. Provenance and physical durability further support the desirability of this gemstone, the origin being Ceylon Sri Lanka, a historical source for quality gem material. Sri Lankan rhodolites that exhibit strong, evenly distributed color and high clarity are comparatively rare in the market, particularly in natural, untreated examples. Garnets are mechanically robust for everyday wear, with a Mohs hardness typically in the seven to seven and a half range, combined with good toughness, making them suitable for rings and other frequently worn settings. The lack of treatment or enhancement increases collector confidence, because there is no modification to color or clarity that could be affected by future restorative processes. From a gemological documentation perspective, provenance notes and a clear treatment declaration should accompany any investment grade purchase, and we provide provenance information and clear communication regarding this stones origin and enhancement status. As an investment piece this rhodolite garnet exhibits multiple characteristics that support future appreciation in value, natural color stability, absence of enhancement, controlled and desirable cutting proportions, and a rarity element associated with its Sri Lankan origin. Market trends for colored gemstones have shown growing collector interest in well documented, untreated stones that offer both aesthetic pleasure and portfolio diversification, and the pinkish purple rhodolite niche has been particularly attractive to buyers seeking a distinctive alternative to more commonly traded gems. Liquidity in the colored gem market favors stones with transparent quality and classic shapes, and the princess cut provides wide applicability across jewelry styles, enhancing resale prospects. Appreciation potential is influenced by global supply dynamics, gem demand cycles, and an investor driven preference for natural and ethically sourced material, factors that align with the attributes of this piece. For buyers considering acquisition for investment, we recommend obtaining an independent gemological report for long term documentation, insuring the stone and preserving its condition through appropriate setting and care. We support clients with provenance details and handling recommendations to preserve value over time.
