1.31 Ct. Purplish Pink Rhodolite Garnet

This description concerns a single, transparent rhodolite garnet weighing 1.31 carats, presented in a classic round shape with precise dimensions of 6.22 x 6.22 x 4.24 mm. The gem originates from Ceylon, Sri Lanka, and has not undergone any enhancement. Color is described as purplish pink with vivid intensity, and the stone exhibits excellent polish. Clarity is graded as very very slightly included, evaluated at eye level, indicating only minimal and unobtrusive internal characteristics that do not interfere with visual performance or faceting symmetry. We affirms these attributes as part of the stone s documented description, reflecting its natural origin and careful selection. The mixed brilliant cut employed for this specimen uses a considered geometric faceting strategy that optimizes the interaction between incident light and the gem s internal structure. The round outline provides rotational symmetry, and the arrangement of crown facets, table size, and pavilion facets has been executed to balance brilliance, fire, and color saturation. The mixed brilliant approach typically pairs a brilliant style crown with a complementary pavilion geometry that channels light back through the crown in controlled flashes. In this example the faceting pattern creates multiple, repeatable internal reflections that enhance scintillation when the stone or light source moves, while the pavilion facet angles preserve depth of color by managing the path length of light within the garnet. The result is a perceptible play of light that accentuates the purplish pink hue without overwhelming it with excessive dispersion, and the excellent polish contributes to crisp facet junctions and strong facet contrast. From a gemological perspective the stone s proportions and facet geometry contribute directly to optical performance. The 6.22 mm diameter and 4.24 mm depth provide a balanced table to depth relationship that supports both face up spread and light return. The mixed brilliant faceting produces a combination of broad flashes and fine scintillation, which is particularly effective in stones with vivid color intensity, because controlled light return prevents the appearance of a washed or overly dark face up color. Very very slight inclusions, when present, are contained and positioned so as not to interrupt the primary light paths established by the crown and pavilion facets. The excellent polish ensures that light transmission across each facet is unobstructed, enhancing contrast and the perception of depth. Collectively these geometric and finishing considerations allow the gem to present as lively and internally active while remaining true to the characteristic hue of rhodolite garnet. In practical terms this transparent rhodolite garnet is suitable for use as a fine center stone in rings, pendants, or other jewelry settings where controlled light performance and vivid color are desired. Its 1.31 carat weight and round dimensions integrate readily into classic mounting styles that showcase the stone s symmetry and scintillation. Because the gem is natural, untreated, and of Sri Lankan origin, it offers both the aesthetic qualities and the provenance that are important for many collectors and designers. We provide this description to assist in accurate evaluation and setting decisions, focusing on measurable attributes and the observable optical effects created by the gem s geometric faceting and finishing.
