1.32 Ct. Purple Spinel

This 1.32 carat oval purple spinel from Ceylon offers a rare combination of depth and clarity that sets it apart from common purple gems on the market, such as amethyst and treated sapphire. Measuring 7.13 by 6.60 by 4.29 millimeters, this gem features a mixed brilliant cut that maximizes light return and creates lively, even scintillation across the table. The stone is transparent and carries a clarity grade described as very very slightly included when evaluated at eye level, which means the visual field remains clean and brilliant under normal wear. Its dark color intensity gives it a sophisticated, jewel tone that reads richer and more saturated than many mass market purple stones, while the excellent polish adds a mirror like finish to the facets. Unlike heat treated or irradiated alternatives, this spinel has no enhancement, which preserves its natural character and long term color stability. Sourced from Ceylon, a provenance renowned for producing top quality spinel, this gem offers superior consistency of color and a tactile sense of authenticity that lab grown or heavily treated stones cannot replicate. In everyday wear this purple spinel moves effortlessly between casual and formal presentations, making it a highly versatile choice for bespoke jewelry. In a simple bezel or solitaire setting it brings a refined pop of color to daily ensembles, while in a halo or multi stone composition it competes with high end gemstones for evening and red carpet looks. Compared to amethyst, which can be softer and more commonly available, this spinel provides greater durability and a depth of tone that maintains presence under bright lights. Compared to synthetic spinel, this natural stone holds intrinsic resale value and the unique hallmark of origin from Sri Lanka. For buyers seeking value, the combination of a 1.32 carat weight, excellent polish, and no enhancement delivers a balance of investment quality and wearable beauty. We stand behind the origin and treatment disclosure of this spinel, and we recommend a classic prong or four claw setting to show off the mixed brilliant cut while protecting the girdle, and standard care with mild soap and warm water to keep the polish and color at their best.
