10.07 Ct. Grey Cabochon Moonstone

This translucent grey moonstone presents as a finely proportioned oval, weighing 10.07 carats, with exact dimensions of 15.92 by 12.03 by 7.91 mm. The gem is fashioned in a cabochon cut, a form that accentuates the internal play of light characteristic of moonstone, and it displays a soft, directional adularescence across the dome. Clarity is graded as very very slightly included when viewed at eye level, indicating only minor natural features that do not detract from the overall appearance. Color intensity is faint, lending a restrained grey tone that reads as versatile and understated within a range of design contexts. The polish is excellent, producing a smooth surface and consistent reflection that complements the stone???s translucency. There has been no enhancement to this specimen, it is untreated, and its origin is Ceylon, Sri Lanka, a region with a long established tradition of producing high quality moonstones. The provenance and sourcing of this moonstone are central to its appeal for the conscious consumer. We acquires materials through partners who operate in Sri Lanka with established relationships to local mining communities. Procurement focuses on transparency and traceability, and the stone was sourced from channels that conform to our responsible sourcing standards. These standards emphasize equitable trade terms for miners, avoidance of exploitative labor practices, and efforts to minimize environmental disturbance during extraction. Where possible, supply chain partners provide documentation of origin and transport, and our internal due diligence includes verification of supplier practices and community engagement. The absence of treatment in this moonstone simplifies its supply chain footprint, since no additional processing steps requiring energy intensive or chemical treatments were applied, and this supports a lower impact profile as compared to commonly enhanced gems. From a collector and designer perspective, this 10.07 carat oval grey moonstone fits into a conscious collection in several practical ways. Its moderate dimensions and cabochon geometry make it suitable as a single focal stone for a ring, a pendant, or a bespoke brooch, allowing for protective settings such as a bezel to preserve the dome and resist edge chipping. The faint color intensity and excellent polish enable it to pair seamlessly with both white and warm metal palettes, creating understated, versatile jewelry that can be worn daily or reserved for thoughtful occasions. The stone???s Mohs hardness of approximately six to six and a half should be considered in design to ensure longevity, and conservative settings and inset designs will offer the best protection. Collectors seeking pieces with minimal treatment prefer natural, unenhanced specimens, and this moonstone???s untreated state is aligned with that preference. Its translucency and directional sheen add a subtle visual dynamism that complements minimalist and artisanal design approaches alike, allowing consumers to prioritize craftsmanship and ethical provenance over conspicuous branding. Technical care guidance and support for integration into a considered collection are available from us. For wear and maintenance we recommend avoiding exposure to harsh chemicals and extreme heat, and cleaning with mild soap and lukewarm water using a soft brush or cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaning methods are not advised for feldspar group minerals like moonstone, particularly for cabochons that may contain internal planes or inclusions. If you require a specific gemological report for insurance or certification, or if you wish to commission a custom setting or bespoke design, our team can facilitate additional imaging, measurements, and documentation. We can also provide guidance on mounting styles that balance aesthetic intent and protective considerations, and on matching this moonstone with complementary gems or metals to achieve a cohesive and ethically informed piece. For professionals and private collectors alike, this moonstone represents a specimen where physical qualities and responsible sourcing intersect, offering a piece that is both materially refined and aligned with the values of a conscious consumer.
