10.08 Ct. Peach Cabochon Moonstone

From the cool, weathered veins of Ceylon, where ancient seas and shifting earth converged to weave mineral stories into the bedrock, comes this peach moonstone that bears the quiet signature of time. Formed within layers of orthoclase feldspar and slowly transformed by subtle geological stresses, each crystal grows with invisible bands that later reveal themselves as soft, floating light. Our miners in Sri Lanka, many of whom carry on techniques passed down through generations, carefully extract rough pieces by hand, seeking nodules that promise translucence and a balanced color. They know that a moonstone worth bringing to light begins with the right raw blank, one whose internal lamellar structure can create the characteristic sheen that has fascinated cultures for centuries. This particular specimen, a translucent oval from those storied deposits, already showed a gentle peach glow in the rough, a hint of warmth that suggested both classical elegance and a contemporary softness. We respect that beginning, and we trace each step so that the stone you receive carries not only beauty but provenance and purpose. The transformation from rough to the finished gem is a careful choreography between eye and hand. Skilled lapidaries selected the best orientation to reveal the stone just so, cutting to an oval cabochon to emphasize uniform light play and to create a harmonious silhouette, 17.67 by 14.30 by 6.04 millimeters in dimension, weighing 10.08 carats. The cabochon shape is a classic choice for moonstone, allowing the adularescence to travel smoothly across the dome, and our cutter worked to achieve an excellent polish that gives the surface a satiny reflection, inviting the eye and the touch. Evaluated at eye level the clarity is eye clean, which means no noticeable inclusions interrupt the stone s soft field, and the medium light color intensity provides a serene peach that reads as warm without overpowering. There has been no enhancement to alter its natural character, so what you see is a direct continuation of its origin and the hands that shaped it. The result is a gem that is both honest and refined, ready to be set in an intimate ring, a pendant that rests close to the heart, or a statement piece where its gentle glow can be savored. Owning this moonstone is to carry a piece of island geology and human craft with you, a gem that links earth, artisan, and wearer in a single narrative. In many cultures moonstone has been a talisman of new beginnings and inner clarity, and this peach example brings a warm, calming energy while remaining versatile in design. Imagine the oval cabochon cradled in a warm gold bezel to echo its peach tones, or set in soft silver for a modern, understated look that allows the stone s translucence to breathe. Caring for it is simple, because the stone s surface polish and natural state respond well to gentle cleaning with mild soap and water and a soft cloth. Avoid ultrasonic or steam cleaners, and remove the gem before vigorous activity to preserve its dome and polish. We stand behind our description and our sourcing, and we welcome inquiries about certification, custom settings, and complementary pieces that will harmonize with this stone s color and scale. If you are seeking a gem with a clear lineage, a crafted finish, and a warmth that feels personal, this 10.08 carat peach moonstone from Ceylon offers a tangible connection to place and process, a subtle companion for a lifetime of wear.
