2.31 Ct. Green Cabochon Tourmaline

There are gemstones that announce themselves with a blaze of modern flash, and then there are stones that arrive with a sense of history and quiet authority, a presence that feels inevitable and permanent, such as this exquisite green tourmaline offered by us. This piece is a transparent, cushion shaped gem weighing 2.31 carats, with exact dimensions of 7.14 x 7.13 x 5.41 mm, cut in a traditional sugar loaf style that softly crowns the gem and invites the eye to journey inward. The color reads as a medium intense green, a hue that balances richness and clarity without crossing into overt darkness, and the clarity grade is included, evaluated at eye level, which means the internal character of the stone is visible to the curious eye and contributes to its individuality. The polish on this example is excellent, so the surfaces reflect light with a calm, mirror like finish, and importantly, there is no enhancement applied to the gem, a testament to its natural origin in Mozambique, a source known for producing tourmalines with lively tone and enduring beauty. To understand the appeal of this tourmaline it helps to consider the long affection humanity has held for green gems, and the way certain cuts and shapes become part of cultural memory. The cushion shape is one of the most venerable silhouettes in gem cutting, a softened square that has graced signet rings, lockets, and pendant settings for centuries, evolving with changes in fashion while always retaining an air of dignity. The sugar loaf cut, named for its resemblance to the conical loaves of sugar once common in trade, was favored in eras when jewelers sought to preserve weight and color while allowing light to play across curved facets. Tourmaline itself has a storied past, prized across continents for its range of colors and metaphysical associations, and Mozambican tourmalines have in recent decades come to be recognized for their balanced saturation and robust clarity. The included clarity of this particular gem should be seen as part of its fingerprint, as natural formations and characteristics caught within the crystal recall the geological journey that forged the stone over vast spans of time, making the piece an heirloom in spirit even as it is newly available. For those who appreciate tradition and wish to create a lasting piece of jewelry that will be passed down through generations, this green tourmaline is supremely adaptable. Set in warm yellow gold the medium intense green will sing with an antiquarian elegance, evoking Victorian and Edwardian palettes, while a white metal such as platinum or palladium will emphasize the gem???s transparency and provide a cooler, more restrained portrait fit for classic solitaire rings or understated pendants. The sugar loaf crown and cushion outline make the gem ideal for bezel settings that both protect and showcase the domed surface, while prong settings can be used to allow light to slide beneath the girdle and enliven the stone from different angles. With dimensions of 7.14 by 7.13 by 5.41 millimeters the stone has a presence that reads well on the hand without overwhelming it, and its 2.31 carat weight offers a satisfying sense of substance for a centerpiece stone in a ring or an elegant focal point in an heirloom pendant. The excellent polish ensures smooth facets that are comfortable to wear, and the absence of any enhancement means the gem will age and patina as natural gemstones do, acquiring a history that mirrors the lives of those who wear it. We treat provenance, craftsmanship, and truth to nature as inseparable values, and this Mozambican tourmaline reflects that commitment. We can provide additional imagery and certified measurements on request, and we are happy to discuss setting options with clients who wish to create a bespoke piece that honors the gem???s classical character. For daily care keep the stone away from harsh chemicals, remove it for strenuous activity, and clean it gently with warm soapy water and a soft brush to maintain its excellent polish, as routine care will preserve the gem???s presence for generations. If you seek a gem that speaks to legacy rather than fleeting trend, that carries the quiet authority of old world cutting traditions and the freshness of an untouched, unenhanced origin, this 2.31 carat cushion green tourmaline from Mozambique represents a rare opportunity, and we would be honored to guide you as you bring this timeless stone into a new chapter of history.
