5.00 Ct. Yellow Citrine

This transparent round yellow citrine weighs 5.00 carats, and measures 10.82 by 10.80 by 8.12 millimeters, cut in a faceted mixed brilliant configuration to optimize both weight retention and optical performance. The mixed brilliant style combines a brilliant crown arrangement with a modified pavilion geometry, producing strong central scintillation from the table and a lively array of pinpoint flashes from the crown facets, while the pavilion planes are engineered to return light with controlled color saturation. At the measured proportions the depth is approximately 75 percent, a proportion that deliberately favors face up color intensity for a colored quartz specimen, while the facet architecture and excellent polish preserve lively reflectance and crisp facet delineation. The clarity is described as very very slightly included when evaluated at eye level, indicating that the stone is effectively eye clean, with only microscopic inclusions that do not interfere with the gemetic symmetry or with the path of light through the crown and table facets, and the finish quality is excellent, evidencing meticulous lapidary work with smooth facet junctions and minimal facet meet deviations. From a gemological standpoint this citrine exhibits the expected optical and physical parameters of natural quartz, with a refractive index in the neighborhood of 1.544 to 1.553, low birefringence on the order of 0.009, and a specific gravity near 2.65, providing robust handling durability with a Mohs hardness of 7. The warm yellow to golden orange hue is due to natural trace element chemistry and lattice charge states, rather than artificial doping, and the absence of enhancement confirms that this color is intrinsic to the crystal from its Brazilian provenance. The lapidary execution emphasizes color performance, with crown and pavilion facet proportions chosen to concentrate the yellow tone face up without causing excessive windowing or darkened areas, and the mixed brilliant faceting scheme ensures that the color is distributed evenly beneath the table while peripheral facets break up return light to create pleasing scintillation. The overall result is a gem that reads as intense in color intensity, yet retains transparency and lively brilliance, making it suitable for single stone settings where color and sparkle must be balanced. When compared to lab grown quartz or synthetic citrine produced by hydrothermal or seed plate methods, natural, unenhanced material provides a number of distinct advantages for both connoisseurs and investment oriented buyers. Natural stones carry growth signatures that are unique to their geologic formation, including subtle zoning, natural two phase or fingerprint inclusions, and trace element patterns that record the thermal and chemical conditions of their formation, characteristics that are visible under magnification and that contribute to provenance and collectible value. Lab grown material can achieve exceptional clarity and uniformity, and that can be advantageous for certain commercial uses, however the uniform growth textures and absence of natural growth related inclusions often make synthetics less desirable to collectors who prize the individuality and natural history of a gemstone. From a market perspective natural, unenhanced citrine, particularly when sourced from established localities such as Brazil, tends to command stronger resale and collectible value than mass produced synthetic counterparts, because rarity of natural color and documented origin drive desirability. Additionally the no enhancement status of this piece reduces ambiguity in valuation and simplifies the certification process, since heat treated or artificially colored material requires explicit disclosure and can affect market perception. We emphasize traceable origin and exacting lapidary standards, and this 5.00 carat Brazilian citrine exemplifies that commitment. The combination of mixed brilliant cutting, an eye clean very very slightly included clarity grade, intense natural color, and an excellent polish makes this gemstone suitable for high quality bespoke jewels where natural character and optical performance are paramount. For clients seeking the tactile and intangible benefits of a natural gem, rather than the pristine but more homogeneous appearance of lab grown material, this citrine offers a rare confluence of natural color authenticity, skilled cutting, and documented origin, attributes that sustain both aesthetic pleasure and long term value.
