5.01 Ct. Purple Amethyst

From the moment this amethyst left the earth in Brazil, it began a quiet journey that transformed a piece of raw geology into a jewel ready to become part of your story. Mined from the rich deposits that have made Brazil famous for its purple quartz varieties, the rough crystal was selected for its transparent clarity and deep, consistent color. Skilled lapidaries examined the stone under magnification, studying natural zoning and internal features, until they determined the best orientation to maximize color and brilliance. The mixed brilliant faceting style was chosen to harness the gem sacrosanct glow that amethyst can display, balancing crown facets with precision pavilion facets to create flashes of light and rich purple depth. Each facet received meticulous attention, the polish brought to an excellent finish, and the result is a transparent oval amethyst weighing 5.01 carats, with dimensions of 12.38 by 10.15 by 7.12 millimeters, an intense color intensity, and a clarity described as very very slightly included when evaluated at eye level, a testament to nature and to the cutter who elevated it. This gem arrives to you ideally shaped and sized for custom jewelry, a canvas that invites design and personalization. The classic oval silhouette provides elegant proportions that translate beautifully into rings, pendants, and statement earrings. At 12.38 by 10.15 millimeters the stone sits squarely in the realm of center stones that read as substantial without overwhelming a design, and the 7.12 millimeter depth offers reassuring durability and presence within a setting. The mixed brilliant cut enhances light return while preserving the intense purple that defines fine amethyst, which means it will perform under both natural and artificial lighting. With no enhancements applied, the color and clarity are wholly natural, offering designers confidence when pairing this gem with diamonds, colored accents, or intricate metalwork. For ring settings, classic four or six prongs will flatter the oval outline and allow the light to enter fully, while a low bezel can protect the stone for everyday wear, highlighting its clean girdle and polished finish. For pendants, an east west or north south orientation both work well, each conveying a different personality, and the stone is large enough to hold a halo of tiny diamonds or to stand alone in a sculptural custom mount. We believe that a gemstone is more than its specifications, and we invite you to imagine the life this amethyst will lead once it is set. Picture it warming under the sun as a daily ring that marks a milestone, or imagine it suspended at the throat as a pendant that catches light with every movement. Amethyst carries a historical lineage as a stone of calm and clarity in many cultures, and its purple tones have been associated with royalty and creative expression across centuries, making it a meaningful choice for a bespoke piece. Our team can advise on metal choices that best complement the intense purple, with warm golds bringing out red undertones, and cool whites enhancing the stone’s violet saturation. We offer design consultations to suggest prong profiles, bezel rim thicknesses, and setting heights that respect the gem depth and protect its integrity. This amethyst is ready to be matched with your vision, whether that is a minimalist solitaire that allows the oval form to speak plainly, an ornate vintage inspired halo setting, or a modern geometric design that juxtaposes sharp metal lines with the gem’s organic glow. If you are creating a custom commission we are happy to provide high resolution images, light performance notes, and recommendations for setting dimensions that will accommodate the 12.38 by 10.15 by 7.12 millimeter profile while showcasing the mixed brilliant cut to its fullest. The natural, untreated origin from Brazil ensures authenticity and character that synthetic replacements cannot replicate, and the very very slightly included clarity gives a clean appearance at eye level while preserving the natural story visible under magnification. We take care through every step, from the mine to the cutter to the final setting, and we welcome you to start the conversation so that this 5.01 carat oval amethyst can become the focal point of a custom piece that reflects your taste and your tale.
