5.03 Ct. Bi Color Fluorite

This listing presents a transparent bi color fluorite, securely documented and offered by us, described with precise gemological parameters for informed evaluation. The specimen weighs 5.03 carat, and measures 10.76 x 9.06 x 5.75 mm, an unusual combination of substantial weight and compact dimensions for a transparent fluorite suitable for fine faceting. The shape is an emerald cut, chosen to emphasize the stone geometry, to present the color zoning in broad, faceted planes, and to provide an elegant rectangular outline. Clarity is graded as slightly included, evaluated at eye level, and the finish is noted as excellent polish, resulting in crisp facet junctions, smooth pavilion planes, and a controlled reflective return across the table. Color intensity is classified as intense, and the stone has been heat treated as an enhancement. The origin is recorded as China, which is known for producing a variety of fluorite colors and material types. The bi color distribution in this piece is a defining characteristic, presenting a distinct transition between green and yellow tones within a single crystal. Bi color fluorite of this nature is uncommon, and the degree of transparency exhibited here adds to its rarity. Most fluorite faceted stones available in the market are smaller, or exhibit more diffuse color zoning, or are translucent rather than truly transparent. Larger facetable fluorite specimens that combine high transparency, distinct bicolor zoning, and clean cutting surfaces are infrequent, making this 5.03 carat emerald cut an exceptional example relative to typical market offerings. The emerald cut style further accentuates the linear interface between the two colors, producing a refined visual separation that is difficult to achieve in stones with inferior clarity or less controlled cutting. From a gemological perspective, several attributes contribute to the overall quality assessment and practical considerations for use. The clarity grade slightly included indicates the presence of minor internal features, observable at normal viewing distance but not significantly disruptive to the visual appeal. The excellent polish enhances light return and surface luster, compensating in part for any minor internal characteristics. The intense color intensity is uniform within the designated zones, and the emerald cut maximizes the color presentation while maintaining good optical performance. Heat treatment is disclosed as the enhancement method, applied to stabilize or intensify color, and this disclosure is provided for transparency in grading and for long term care considerations. Fluorite is a relatively soft mineral compared to traditional jewelry gems, therefore mounting decisions should reflect the need for secure settings and protective design. Comparative market context further clarifies the rarity of this example. Faceted fluorite that exceeds 5 carat while retaining transparent clarity and distinct bi color zoning is notably scarce in the trade. Many collectors and designers encounter fluorite in smaller parcels, or as specimens with strong color but limited transparency. The emerald cut form, with its emphasis on table visibility and step faceting, is less commonly applied to fluorite than to harder gems, because cutters must balance yield and durability. The combination observed here of weight, cut, transparency, and color separation places this stone in a small subset of available fluorite gems. The documented origin of China adds provenance information, and while China produces a wide range of fluorite varieties, the specific assembly of attributes in this stone remains uncommon compared to typical offerings. For practical use and conservation, specific recommendations apply to preserve the long term condition of the gem. Because fluorite has a modest hardness, use in rings should prioritize protective settings, such as bezel or secure semi bezel designs, and avoid exposed prong settings for active wear. Cleaning should be undertaken with gentle, non abrasive methods, avoiding high heat, strong detergents, and ultrasonic cleaning devices. The disclosed heat treatment should not be interpreted as an indication that further thermal exposure is safe, therefore avoid rapid temperature changes and direct heat sources. The excellent polish and careful emerald cut faceting make this piece suitable for high end bespoke jewelry, collectors focused on rare color occurrences, and designers seeking a distinctive center stone with a clearly defined bicolor appearance. We provide full documentation of the stone parameters, including weight, dimensions, cut, clarity, color intensity, polish, enhancement, and origin, to support informed selection and long term appreciation.
