0.77 Ct. Purple Spinel

This transparent purple spinel, presented by us, weighs 0.77 carat and is cut into a refined fancy shape with dimensions of 7.41 x 4.65 x 3.48 mm. The stone is faceted with a mixed brilliant cut, delivering a lively interaction with light, and it displays light color intensity with an elegant violet tone. Clarity is graded as slightly included at eye level, and the excellent polish enhances surface finish and overall brilliance. The spinel is untreated, with no enhancement, and its documented origin is Ceylon Sri Lanka, a source noted for producing clean, attractively colored material. In practical terms this spinel is well suited to daily wear in a variety of jewelry settings. Spinel is a hard mineral, registering at 8 on the Mohs scale, and it lacks prominent cleavage, which together provide resistance to abrasion and a reduced tendency to split under impact. The slightly included clarity does not compromise structural integrity, the excellent polish helps minimize surface wear, and the mixed brilliant faceting maximizes light return so the gem maintains visual appeal even with regular use. For longevity, standard care is recommended, including routine cleaning with warm soapy water and a soft brush, cautious handling to avoid strong blows, and secure setting choices such as well seated prongs or a protective bezel to reduce exposure to knocks. Avoidance of prolonged contact with harsh chemicals will preserve polish and color, and conventional jewelry maintenance practices will ensure the gemstone retains its condition for everyday use.
