6.77 Ct. Bluish Green Cabochon Turquoise

This 6.77 carat Persian turquoise cabochon presents a compact and technically refined example of classic turquoise material, with dimensions of 11.98 x 12.09 x 7.23 millimeters, and a round shape executed with precision. The cutting style is cabochon, featuring a high dome profile whose height relative to diameter enhances perceived color saturation and depth. The gem is opaque, and the body tone exhibits a bluish green hue of medium intensity, consistent with sought after Persian turquoise characteristics. The surface finish is an excellent polish, providing a smooth mirror like luster across the dome that emphasizes the stone color and hides microtopography. No enhancement has been applied to this specimen, which means the color and surface condition are natural and untreated, a factor that carries both gemological and aesthetic value. The piece shows a virtually uniform body color with a minor natural dark pinpoint near the base, a feature that confirms the authenticity of the material while preserving visual integrity for most settings. From a lapidary perspective the cabochon cut of this turquoise demonstrates deliberate choices in proportion and contour to maximize both durability and optical performance. The dome curvature is pronounced, creating a larger optical thickness under the pavilion which concentrates scattered light and strengthens the perceived saturation of the bluish green tone. The slightly oval to round outline as recorded in the dimensions indicates careful trimming to retain material while achieving symmetry. The girdle area has been left smoothly rounded and slightly tapered, an intentional approach that reduces the risk of chipping during setting and wear. The polish grade is excellent, achieved through progressive abrasion and final polishing with fine compounds that remove micro abrasions and produce a uniform reflective field. Because turquoise is typically of lower hardness than traditional gemstones, the choice to deliver a high dome and excellent polish reflects both artisanal skill and an emphasis on wearability, allowing the stone to be mounted safely in bezel seats or secure prong settings. Design integration and versatility are inherent strengths of a well cut turquoise cabochon of this size and tone. At just under twelve millimeters diameter with a robust dome height, the stone functions as a versatile focal element for both casual and formal jewelry expressions. In casual compositions it adapts to artisan and contemporary treatments, such as hand hammered silver bezels, leather accented rings, and mixed metal settings that take advantage of the stone color contrast. For formal applications the piece responds exceptionally well to precision mountings, such as thin polished bezels in yellow gold to warm the bluish green body color, or white metal halos incorporating small white diamonds or white sapphires to produce a refined contrast and optical lift. The cabochon profile also suits cluster arrangements and pairings with accent stones, where the smooth dome provides a calm visual center against faceted companions. For functional recommendations the high dome and secure rounded girdle make bezel settings preferable for rings and pendants, while closed back mountings will preserve the color and minimize exposure to moisture and chemicals. Provenance and care are central to the technical appraisal and long term performance of turquoise, and this example from Persia Iran carries historical and gemological significance. Persian turquoise is renowned for stable fine color and classic appearance, and the fact that this piece is supplied without enhancement increases its market and collector appeal. For buyers considering certification, we can assist with documentation and independent laboratory evaluation if desired. Care instructions are straightforward and based on material properties, avoid exposure to acids, cosmetics, solvents, and prolonged direct sunlight to prevent surface discoloration or matrix alteration. Clean the piece with a soft cloth and mild soapy water, never use ultrasonic or steam cleaning, and ensure settings are checked periodically to prevent mechanical damage. As specialists in natural gemstones we stand ready to advise on custom mounting options, and inventory of untreated Persian turquoise is limited, which makes this well proportioned cabochon a pragmatic choice for clients seeking an authentic and technically refined turquoise for both everyday and elevated jewelry projects.
